Fluorinated water/oil repellents resist not only water soluble liquids such as water, coffee, or milk, but also highly aggressive, penetrating liquids such as oil, alcohol, and gasoline.

Asahi Glass is always working on product improvements. In the past we developed a number of new technologies to improve the environmental performance of our products. Our innovations include:
- Formalin-free products
- Low VOC products
- APEO-free products.

As we enter the twenty-first century, research and efforts to protect the environment continue on a global basis.
Some of the residual products in conventional fluorinated water/oil repellent agents (such as PFOS and PFOA) and their decomposition products have been found to be environmentally-persistent. In response, Asahi Glass developed the new, AsahiGuard E-SERIES, which is PFOA-free (at or above detection limits). This new product line quickly set us apart from competitors. Production at our dedicated plant facility ensures that none of the persistent chemicals such as PFOA or PFOA precursors carry over from previous manufacturing processes.
